There’s just one problem with this approach: it’s not authentic. You’re doing things in life that are not a true extension of who you want to become. 

Being honest about who you are is the first step towards showing yourself more respect. When you stop living the life that other people have set out for you and start living for yourself, things change tremendously. 

Learn To Say No To People

Learning to say no is one of the biggest things you can do to show yourself respect. You don’t have to continually go along with what other people want you to do. Instead, you can choose your own path. 
Learning to say no actually gives you time and energy. When you refuse to help people or spend time with them, it frees you up for the things that matter most in your life. 

Choose A Respectful Partner

Many people get into disrespectful relationships. Their partner doesn’t support or cherish them. Instead, they bring them down. 

It can be scary to break off a relationship, but it’s also necessary sometimes. If your partner doesn’t respect you, then it can lead to you no longer respecting yourself.

Get a Team that Supports You

Sometimes we have to face our fears or navigate challenging situations— but we don’t have to do it alone. If you faced something like a divorce or lawsuit, get a team in place to support you.
