Does this sound familiar?

  • You’ve been teaching for a while but sometimes you feel like you’re not good enough.

  • You worry before class— what if I forget what to say? What if I mix up the sequence? Will students come back? It’s like your mind is on overdrive and you can’t stop overthinking it.

  • You get nervous before teaching and wish you had a more definitive plan to help you prepare.

A Yoga Class Script PDF Can Become Your Secret Superpower

The resources on this page are designed to help you boost your confidence and find your teaching groove. Written out of my 10+ years of experience teaching Vinyasa yoga, these e-books and yoga teaching scripts are designed to help you move past the initial ‘what am I doing?!’ stage and into feeling excited, grounded, creative and motivated when you teach.

Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel every time you teach a class, get one basic class under your belt and be prepared to teach it anywhere, any time!

What is a yoga teaching script?

A yoga script lists specific yoga postures and verbal cues to help yoga teachers know exactly what to say when teaching a class. Using this template, you’ll feel more comfortable and know what to say to start and end class, as well as how to guide students safely in and out of the poses.

Who are these yoga scripts for?

All of the books listed here are meant for yoga teachers who want to elevate their teaching and build confidence. These resources can help refine your cues, create a structure and framework for your sequencing, and reduce nervousness when you go to teach.

What’s an example of what I’d find in a yoga script?

The yoga script gives detailed information on how students can move their bodies safely into and out of a pose. Here’s an example of the cues you’d find in a section on Child's Pose in a yoga script:

Child’s Pose

  • Place your knees as wide as your mat.

  • Draw your hips back toward your heels.

  • Extend your arms forward.

  • Bring your forehead down toward the mat, lengthening your spine.

  • If your forehead doesn’t reach the floor, you can stack your palms or place a block there for support.

  • Focus your attention on your breath.

What else is included?

Not only do these yoga scripts include specific cues, but they also have information on how to start and end a class, what to say during Savasana, how to boost your confidence, how to identify your fears or challenges, and other important topics for yoga teachers.

Why should I use a yoga teaching script? Isn’t that ‘cheating’ as a yoga teacher?

A yoga script can help you boost your creativity and gain expertise as a new yoga teacher. Instead of feeling overwhelmed or nervous to teach, you’ll have a helpful structure to implement—giving you a sense of preparedness, and helping you find your voice and boost your confidence when you teach. While there may be different opinions out there, I don’t see this as ‘cheating’ — this is a way to fast track to confidence, meaning you’ll teach more impactful classes sooner and make a bigger difference in your community.
