Autumn Colors in Big Cottonwood Canyon, Plus a Visit to Cafe 140B
/My current mission is to romanticize my life.
Who doesn’t need more whimsy and joy in their lives, honestly?
As someone who struggles with anxiety and seasonal depression, adding more adventures and fun to my week is a also smart way to prepare for the colder fall and winter months.
This means I’m prioritizing slow mornings, getting outside, wearing cozy things, discovering the absolute best autumn drinks of Salt Lake City, and exploring more yoga studios, bookstores, and contrast therapy places around SLC.
You might have seen my first post in the Project Cozy series, where I had a delicious spicy pumpkin latte at Alpha Coffee.
This week I’m back with more autumn fun, starting with a visit to Cafe 140B in the Avenues in Salt Lake City.
I met a friend for coffee on their adorable patio, and of course ordered another pumpkin spice drink and had to try their scone with jam and cream!
The delicious Ellerbeck Scone is a traditional English-style lemon, currant buttery scone, served with housemade strawberry preserves & clotted cream. It was flaky, buttery, and sooo delicious! It reminded me of being in Ireland back in 2024, and just how much better European pastries are than most of what you can find around here, but I would rank this scone up there with the baked goods I had overseas! ;)
Cafe 140B is located in the carriage house behind Ellerbeck Bed & Breakfast, nestled in the Avenues neighborhood at the north end of Salt Lake City.
Absolutely loved their cozy cottage vibes. I’ll definitely be back again for brunch!
This weekend, I also did a tour of the gorgeous fall foliage up Big Cottonwood Canyon to see the bright yellow Aspen leaves and the red Canyon maple and scrub oak trees. The colors were sensational!
Bright pops of ochre and crimson nestled near the evergreens. And I loved the sound of the Aspen leaves quaking in the wind as we drove around the tight corners in the winding road.
Ended the fall leaf tour with a stop at a beautiful section of the Provo River.
What a gorgeous day! Colors like that, plus the fun adventure of going out to take photographs… it was the best mental health boost, and such a relaxing way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
Coming soon in this series, I’ll be sharing more about my visit to a Himalayan salt cave, local yoga studios, and more coffee shops.
Sending you lots of autumn love!
Rachel
