My Midlife Yoga Practice

I've been experiencing a beautiful shift in my yoga practice lately.

A softening.

An opening.

I started practicing yoga consistently around age 20, 21.

I got certified to teach between ages 25 and 26.

And I’m now 36.

So that’s 15-16ish years of yoga… which is wild to say out loud!

Yoga has seen me through so many phases of life. My practice has been a steady companion, a space for healing, growth, and transformation.

Over the years, my practice has shifted and changed depending on the seasons I’ve been in or been moving through.

And lately, it’s much softer than it used to be. I used to crave a hot, sweaty vinyasa or Bikram class most of the time. Now I’ve been exploring more Hatha yoga, restorative yoga, yin yoga, and other more unique styles that are new to me.

It’s wonderful trying new things.

And slowing down.

Midlife yoga feels very stable, calming, grounding, and energizing— from a very secure, empowered place.

Have you ever experienced a big change in your practice, or noticed what you crave has evolved over the years? I’d love to hear.
