To The Yoga Teachers

I want to send a shout-out today to all my fellow yoga teachers.

To all those who are suddenly temporarily unemployed, and worried about the future.

To those who are home taking care of their kids, those feeling isolated, those missing their communities.

To those who are suddenly stepping into the world of filming yoga videos to post online and feel like they have no idea where to start.

To the yoga teachers in training who were in the middle of a teacher training when COVID-19 shut down the studio.

To the world traveling yoga teachers whose retreats, conferences, and other events were suddenly canceled, and who might be stuck somewhere halfway around the globe they weren’t expecting to stay.

A shout-out to the studio owners and the sacrifices they have made in order to provide yoga to their communities — to hold space.

To the studio owners who have shut down already, and those who are grappling with the decision of whether or not to keep doors open.

To those whose businesses will not recover from this situation, and whose lives will change significantly as a result.

I want to send a shout out to all the brave souls who teach yoga.

You guys are the sh*t. Seriously.

You give so much.

I see how hard you work, all that you do to show up for your students and hold it down in your communities.

Thank you for the work that you do.

Thank you for what you give every time you step in front of a class to teach.

Thank you for sharing your voice.

Thank you for offering your gifts.

Thank you for being in my life, for teaching me, for leading by example.

Thank you to the master teachers, the wisdom you carry.

Thank you to the new teachers, those bravely stepping up to learn and continue this practice.

A big thank you, tonight and always, to all the wonderful yoga teachers.

You are loved and honored, and I’m here if you need a listening ear.
