The Alive in the Fire August 10-Day Challenge

Here's a potentially uncomfortable question:

Are you using COVID-19 as an excuse to procrastinate on creating the life you want?

I ask this with humility and curiosity... because I'm noticing a trend. As I've been checking in with friends, family, colleagues, and students in my yoga classes, I'm hearing from a lot of folks that STRESS IS HIGH.

Many of us are feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, lazy, bored, or anxious. Many of us feel the collective suffering and frenetic energy that's out there right now. Many of us have been impacted financially, emotionally, and psychologically by the rapid changes happening around us.

But how many of us are making a strong effort despite the circumstances to create the life we want?

How many of us are making daily, consistent choices to feel good?

How many of us are focusing on hope and health during this time, regardless of what the news is telling us?

I ask these questions in the kindest way possible, and with a full acknowledgment that there have been days when I let the pandemic get to me. Days when I've hit 'snooze' on my alarm and skipped my run, when I've eaten sugary snacks instead of healthy food because it feels good (for a second), or days when I haven't shown up for a loved one because I'd rather watch Netflix.

It is very important to honor your emotions as they come up, to take extra rest, and to embrace that you don't have to be perfect. We are all learning how to accept this situation and make the best of it.

At some point, though, we must take ownership of our lives and empower ourselves to quit procrastinating on the small things. We're in charge of our health. We choose our mindset, our goals, our daily habits.

That sense of empowerment— that’s what inspired me to create the August 10-Day Challenge.

The Alive in the Fire August 10-Day Challenge

An online experience to help you refocus, recharge, and ground your energy.

Each day will feature a theme. We’ll have 3 group Zoom calls where we can share goals and help hold each other accountable. There will be 2 live yoga classes. I’ll share daily posts in a private Facebook group and on a password-protected page of my website (for if you don’t have Facebook) related to each day’s theme. There’s also a journal with prompts so you can reflect on your experiences throughout the 10 days.

The big idea for this challenge is to help you recommit to your own self care so that you feel empowered and ready to take on whatever comes your way for the remainder of 2020.

It could be easy for any of us to check out and say that this year is sh*t and it’s not worth putting energy into achieving our dreams and feeling amazing.

I say: Let’s make August the best month of 2020, and let’s use the momentum we build to create more of what we want in life.
