New! A Yoga Nidra Script from Alive in the Fire

What is Yoga Nidra?

Yoga Nidra, also known as yogic sleep, is a deep relaxation practice. Yoga Nidra allows the mind and body to move into a deep state of healing and rest while still remaining conscious. Yoga Nidra is different from meditation or taking a nap. You’re not “spacing out” (letting your mind wander aimlessly or completing checking out from the present moment); rather, you are systemically relaxing on all levels—mental, physical and emotional—by turning your attention inwards.

While in a Yoga Nidra session, you can reach a state that is somewhere between waking and dreaming. It is common, however, to fall asleep, especially when you are new to the practice. If you do fall asleep, that’s OK; you still receive the benefits of the practice.

Who should practice Yoga Nidra and how does it work?

Yoga Nidra is a great practice for anyone—all ages, experience levels, and states of health. During a session, your brain shifts from beta state (more activity) to alpha state (relaxed).

Are you a yoga teacher who wants to offer Yoga Nidra to your students?

I’ve created a helpful resource for you— the Yoga Nidra Script! This easy-to-follow guide includes 2 versions of Yoga Nidra (a shorter and a longer version) and also comes with a Chakra clearing and balancing meditation.

“I wasn’t sure how to teach Yoga Nidra and would sometimes get stuck in the middle of leading it. Now I have something I can read from and that I trust to guide my students into a state of deep relaxation.” -Sam, yoga teacher

”I’m constantly amazed by the results I see for my students when they do this practice. It’s highly effective and I will be teaching this for years! If you haven’t tried Yoga Nidra yet, please do— it will change your life!” -Silas, yin yoga teacher

About the CHAKRA MEDITATION:

“I really appreciated having this extra meditation from the script. I read it to my students during savasana and they get so much out of it. It’s great for clearing and balancing energy in a short period of time.” -Lisa, vinyasa yoga teacher
