Nothing Bad Happens In Child's Pose

When you lose your practice, it can be hard to find the motivation to jump back into yoga. In the last few months, my yoga went out the window, but I recently re-discovered my practice, and I have to say I'm so grateful to be back on the mat.

At times like this, there are a few things I like to remind myself of. First and foremost, to be gentle and take things slow.

Also, if I get overwhelmed or tired in class, child's pose is waiting for me. And, more importantly, nothing bad happens in child's pose. This is something my friend Rich always says, and it's true.

Child's pose is restful and nurturing. It gives you space to let go. A chance to breathe deeper.

Finally, consider this: you are all you need to get back into your yoga practice. Perseverance is tough, but remember that you don't need a fancy mat or a year-long membership at a studio to return to yoga. You just need you, willing and gently easing back in. Namaste, and happy practicing!

PS Here are some thoughts from Rich on becoming a yoga warrior if you'd like a little more inspiration.

  1. this is so true.

except... well... there was this one time where i had a mini panic attack in child's pose- but i suppose child's pose allowed me to safely have my mini panic attack (hot yoga really isn't for me lol).

    i am a fan of child's pose :)
